Cool temperatures as well as rain and snow showers will persist through Tuesday

The Flood Watch issued yesterday for the area has been allowed to expire. The Tuscarawas River will run high for a couple of days but it is forecast to remain below flood stage. The same goes for Stillwater Creek. However, the Flood WARNING remains in effect for the Muskingum River near Coshocton and Killbuck Creek over in Wayne County.

Spotty showers will be around for Monday but steady rain like we had yesterday and last night has moved off to the east. Most communities around the Tuscarawas Valley received between an inch and two inches of rainfall over the last 24 hours:

The much advertised cold front has moved through east-central Ohio this morning. Temperatures today will be much cooler than they were over the weekend with highs in the low 40s.

A couple of upper level disturbances will keep chilly temperatures and the chances for snow and rain showers today through Tuesday. Not all areas will see precipitation today. Here’s how the hi-res model paints the radar:

I don’t expect much in the way of accumulating snow with the relatively warm ground and the mid April sun angle.

You might have to brush off a dusting of wet snow off the car before before you head out to work in the morning. And, there may be snow sticking to the grass and shrubs, but I don’t see any problems with the commute in the morning.

A low pressure system will approach Chicago Wednesday afternoon lifting a warm front into east-central Ohio. This feature will bring warmer temperatures to the Valley and afternoon highs should reach the upper 50s. While I can’t completely rule out a stray shower or two, the vast majority of the day should be sunny and pleasant.

The associated cold front will cross Wednesday night and bring likely showers to the area. Depending on the exact timing of the cold front, a few flakes of wet snow may mix in early Thursday morning. But again, this shouldn’t amount to any accumulation here in the Valley.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND
High pressure will build over Minnesota Friday and travel over the Great Lakes region over the weekend. Although temperatures will warm they will continue to stay below average through the weekend. The good news is we will remain mostly sunny and dry through the period.

Friday will be the coolest day with highs in the low 50s. We’ll tack on a couple of degrees each day Saturday and Sunday. Sunday should bring highs around 60 degrees.
