Showers and thunderstorms will develop this afternoon across the Valley. While instability and upper-level shear are marginal, it may be just high enough for a few gusty thunderstorms.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed central Ohio in the Marginal (1/5) for severe thunderstorms today.

How strong thunderstorms can get will be highly dependent on how much sunshine we manage to see today. More clouds than sun will limit today’s severe potential.
In addition to gusty wind, some cells today will be capable of producing locally heavy rainfall which may lead to flooding issues.
The atmosphere will tend to stabilize after sunset this evening bringing an end to the threat for severe weather. We will need to keep chances for a shower or storm in the forecast for Labor Day. Monday won’t be a washout, but a spotty shower or storm could affect your outdoor holiday plans.
