Showers and thunderstorms will be possible again today as the stalled front lingers to our south. Lingering shower and thunderstorm chances are expected through Saturday, with dry weather thereafter into next week.
Showers and thunderstorms continue eastward across central Ohio this morning. These are mainly the result of a leftover boundary from a complex of storms to the west. The remnants of this morning’s activity plus a stalled frontal boundary to our south will provide the focus for showers and thunderstorms later in the afternoon.
NEW 1:00 PM: The SPC has upgraded east-central Ohio to a Slight Risk (level 2 on a scale of 1 to 5) for severe thunderstorms this afternoon. This is an uptick from the Marginal Risk (1 out of 5) issued earlier this morning. The threats include strong wind gusts from downbursts and hail. Heavy rainfall is also possible with any slow-movers.
The highest odds for a strong/severe storm locally are around 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Storms should be scattered about with isolated instances of strong thunderstorm cells. Chances for showers and storms will decrease after sunset this evening.

Personally speaking, if you’re a fan of thunder today brings a much-improved chance for a thunderstorm than we had yesterday.
Otherwise, temperatures locally will be a little cooler today with highs in the low-80s. Dew points in the mid-60 will make for muggy conditions again today.
Showers and thunderstorms will redevelop on Friday as the boundary currently in southern Ohio washes out and shifts north. Along with that feature, a weak cold front will approach from the northwest. As the cold front inches closer, showers and thunderstorms will become more likely Friday evening/night. Tomorrow’s storms are expected to remain non-severe.
NICE WEATHER FOR THE WEEKEND
The good news is that all of the stormy weather activity today and tomorrow will set the stage for some very pleasant weather for the weekend. High pressure will build over the region Saturday and remain the dominant weather feature into early next week.
Plus, those dew points will start to come down on Saturday making for less humid conditions.
Our next impactful weather feature will arrive around mid-week as the remnants of tropical storm Cristobol. Cristobol is forecast to make landfall somewhere along the Gulf coast on Monday then track north toward the area. While it’s way too early for specifics, Cristobol’s remnants will likely bring wet weather to east-central Ohio next week.
