Showers and thunderstorms will return to the Valley on Wednesday. We will stay on the warm side of a front that’s located along the Lake Erie shore line. Warm moist air will flow in from the south bringing another day of above average temperatures to the Valley. It will even feel a little humid tomorrow with dew points in the low to mid-60s.
While a stray shower can’t be ruled out in the morning the better odds for showers and storms here in the Valley will arrive during the afternoon. The best time for a thunderstorm in the New Phila area will be during the late afternoon and early evening.
The setuo for any severe storms locally doesn’t appear to be all that great. Clouds should hold temperatures back a bit in the afternoon and that is likely to keep instability reduced. However, upper-level shear will be elevated enough tomorrow that a thunderstorm of two could produce some strong wind gusts and small hail. The Storm Prediction Center has tagged the area with a low risk for severe storms.
This is not a big threat and we won’t see any widespread severe weather but it does bear mentioning that a strong thunderstorm can’t be ruled out completely.
Showers will continue Wednesday night into Thursday.
