Low-End Risk of a Strong Storm on Sunday

Sunday in the Valley will remain unsettled with a scattering of showers and thunderstorms moving across the region throughout the day. The best time for any thunderstorms will be during the afternoon and early evening with a weak cold front. There is a small chance of a storm getting a little rowdy late in the day and capable of producing strong gusty wind.

There are a number of factors that will work against any strong storms developing tomorrow – ample cloud cover, limited instability, and lack of upper-level support – so the odds are fairly low for anything getting out of hand and thus, the Marginal Risk (Level 1 on a scale of 1-5) from the Storm Prediction Center.

We may see a bit of a break from the rain chances and cloud cover on Monday but odds of occasional showers and storms will remain in the forecast through much of next week.
