Much like Saturday, Sunday’s weather in the Tuscarawas Valley will bring the occasional shower or storm. This afternoon, however, a weak cold front is poised to cross east-central Ohio. Showers and a few thunderstorms will redevelop along the front. While support for severe storms along the front is weak, any clearing ahead of the front will cause an increase in destabilization which could lead to an isolated strong/severe thunderstorm.
As a result, the Storm Prediction Center has placed our area in a Marginal Risk (Level 1 on a scale of 1-5) of severe thunderstorms later today and this evening.
Thr primary concern is strong wind gusts but hail is also something to watch for should we get some sunshine today. Timing locally is between 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Somewhat drier air will move into the region behind the front. This should allow for a break in the rain and cloud cover on Monday. Temperatures will be a bit cooler on Monday as well but still warmer than average in our area.
An upper-level disturbance will cross the region on Tuesday. While questions regarding how far south it can manage to travel, showers and thunderstorms may once again develop on Tuesday.
The main concern on Tuesday will be damaging wind gusts. More details regarding this batch of potential storms will likely come into better focus on Monday.
Our active weather pattern of decent odds for showers and storms will continue through Friday.
