The Risk of Severe Storms Returns to the Region on Tuesday

Showers and thunderstorms may develop late Tuesday into Tuesday night with a warm front.

High wind gusts and hail are the main concerns. There is also a low potential for isolated tornadoes. The tornado risk is higher off to our west but there is a non-zero risk of isolated tornadoes in our area late Tuesday. With plenty of moisture to work with, some storms could also bring heavy downpours.

Current model projections show that the potential for severe storm development in our area will start to ramp up mainly after 6:00 pm Tuesday and continue into the overnight hours.

A break in the rain and storm activity is possible on Wednesday but another crossing disturbance will return the risk of severe storms back to east-central Ohio Wednesday night into early Thursday. Questions remain at this point on whether the atmosphere can destabilize enough for storms to become organized.
