A couple of rounds of showers and thunderstorms are likely in the Tuscarawas Valley area today.
The first round is expected late this morning into the early afternoon. This first round could produce some hail and strong gusty wind.
The second round is expected late tonight into the early morning hours on Thursday. This second round has the potential to be severe. Damaging straight-line wind is the main concern, but some of the stronger storms could also produce isolated tornadoes and large hail.

Much like the storms we saw this past Sunday night, tonight’s storms are expected to weaken as they travel into eastern Ohio from the west. The western and central parts of Ohio have the highest risk of severe storms.
It’s important to note that this second line of thunderstorms will not arrive in our area until well after midnight—maybe 2:00 or 3:00 AM—and that there is a low but non-zero risk of tornadoes with this line.

In addition to tonight’s severe threat, several rounds of rain are likely over the next handful of days. Most of our computer modeling suggests a good 2″ to 4″ of rain will be possible in our area through Sunday evening. Expect rises in area creeks and streams as well as the Tuscarawas River. Minor flooding issues can also impact low-lying areas and areas with poor drainage.

The rain won’t come all at once. Several rounds of moderate to heavy rain is likely over the next several days.
