A warm front will lift north through the region Sunday night and bring a warm day to the Tuscarawas Valley area on Monday. Temperatures locally will likely reach the low-70s Monday afternoon ahead of a strong cold front. Showers and thunderstorms will likely develop ahead and along the front as it slides southeast across eastern Ohio.
Some of the storms could be strong to severe, capable of producing damaging straight-line wind and hail. The NWS Storm Prediction Center has placed our area in a Level 2, Slight Risk category for severe weather on Monday.

As of today (Saturday, 4/12) timing in our area will be late afternoon into early evening. This will get fine-tuned as we get closer to Monday and the event comes into the range of the high-resolution computer models.
Another factor that will come into play is the amount of clearing and sun that manages to occur earlier in the day. The amount of sunshine will have a big impact on the amount of instability that’s available. (more sunshine = more instability).
Severe storms or not, temperatures will turn about 20° cooler behind the front Tuesday and Wednesday, with daytime highs returning to the 50s. It will also be breezy with gusts out of the west at 25-30 mph at times on Tuesday, becoming 15-20 mph on Wednesday.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on this through the rest of the weekend and post updates as this develops. – Joe
