Valley Weather Update: Updated Snow Amounts for the Tuscarawas Valley

Most of the day today will remain dry before a cold front approaches and crosses east-central Ohio later tonight. Temperatures today will be warm by late December standards, with most locations reaching the mid 50s.

Rain will move into the area around or shortly after sunset. Temperatures locally should remain high enough through the majority of the night to favor light rain. Colder air will move into the Valley during the pre-dawn hours Friday morning, and rain will mix with snow before becoming snow showers after around 4:00 AM.

Snow accumulation in our area will be relatively light, and most locations will see less than an inch of heavy wet snow before the system exits Friday afternoon.

The wind will also pick up today and become quite gusty tonight and Friday. Some gusts can be as high as 35 mph at times, especially tonight and Friday. Some of our high-resolution models indicate a squall line of heavier rainfall may move west to east across the region between midnight and 2 AM. Wind gusts of 40+ mph can’t be ruled out with this line.

A squall line may move through the region after midnight tonight. Wind gusts along this line can be briefly strong along this squall.

The wind will also impact wind chill values on Friday as temperatures turn colder. The warmest temperatures of the day on Friday will be during the morning hours.

Winds will continue to be breezy on Saturday, but dry weather and warmer temperatures in the mid-40s will return.
