SATURDAY
Rain showers will return to the Tuscarawas Valley today, mainly during the afternoon and this evening. This shouldn’t amount to much, with local totals running around a quarter to half an inch. A cold front crossing tonight will bring a short break in precipitation overnight. Temperatures will remain mild today.

SUNDAY – NOT A NICE DAY
A second reinforcing cold front will likely approach and cross the region on Sunday morning. Snow showers and gusty winds are expected with this second front. Bands of heavier snow showers and maybe even snow squalls are possible as well. These heavier bands/squalls could result in quick snow accumulation in spots.

In addition to the snow, wind gusts in the 30 to 40 mph range are possible on Sunday. Temperatures will remain fairly steady through the day, running in the upper 20s in our local area.
LOCAL SNOW ACCUMULATION
The heaviest snow amounts should stay well to our north – along and north of I-80. Lighter accumulation, less than 2 inches, is favored in our area. The only exception would be in any areas that happen to end up getting a heavier band or snow squall as noted above.

NEXT WEEK
The models indicate another similar scenario playing out on the Wednesday-Thursday timeframe next week. Rain is expected at the start of the next system on Wednesday, followed by a changeover to snow as colder temperatures arrive behind a potent cold front on Thursday. We’ll have more details on this second system after we get through the weekend.

Thanks, Joe! 👍🏼
