Mild and sunny through mid week; Rain chances return on Thursday then clear out for the weekend

I hope everyone in the Valley enjoyed the long Thanksgiving weekend. Pleasant weather will highlight the majority of these last November days and give you plenty of opportunities to finish up your outdoor cleanup and decorating.

We will see a few clouds around Monday morning as a weak upper level system crosses the Great Lakes region but as this little wave exits clouds will thin out in the afternoon and allow for a bright sunny day.

Temperatures will also warm up this afternoon in the wake of that upper level wave and most neighborhoods across the Valley should see temperatures top out in the 50 – 52 degree range.

With clearing skies tonight temperatures will cool similar to last night with overnight lows around 37 degrees. High pressure will remain in control Tuesday and bring us another mild sunny day. Temperatures tomorrow will be the warmest of the week with most of us getting to the upper 50s. And, 60 degrees in some spots will certainly be possible.

Temperatures will drop back a bit by Wednesday and we will begin to see some clouds moving in ahead of our next weather system.

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY RAIN CHANCES
A cold front will bring chances for rain on Thursday and Thursday night. Actually, chances a few showers sneaking in during the day Thursday look to be during the afternoon. Otherwise, it will be a decent day for this time of the year with afternoon temperatures in the low 50s.

Rain chances will ramp up and we will be more likely to see rain after sunset.

There is not a lot of rain with this system but it will bring around a tenth of an inch or so to our area Mainly Thursday night.

Model differences creep in on Friday. The GFS lingers showers into Friday morning while the European model shifts any rain off to the east. For this morning’s forecast I leaned more toward the European and will keep Friday dry but cloudy.

Showers or not, Friday will bring cooler temperatures behind the front with afternoon temperatures only reaching the mid 40s.

WEEKEND OUTLOOK
High pressure will regain control of out weather pattern as we head into the first weekend of December. We can expect dry and sunny conditions Saturday and Sunday with seasonal temperatures in the upper 40s through the period.

LONG RANGE OUTLOOK
Long range and climate modeling indicate a relatively mild temperature pattern through the mid range (next 7 to 10 days).

But the climate models are signaling a pattern flip as we approach mid December. Once the colder air finally arrives it may stick around.
