Temperatures will remain in the 40s today this afternoon and early evening across much of the Valley and Gulf moisture will spread north into east-central Ohio tonight. Light showers and drizzle are already underway here and will become light rain showers as the heavier moisture moves in overhead through tonight.
Temperatures will slowly cool to to around freezing after sunset and light freezing rain/drizzle will be possible. It won’t be a big ice storm or anything and shouldn’t cause any major problems for the area, but you will have to watch for slick spots.
Freezing rain/drizzle will continue at times overnight and into early Sunday morning. Again, watch for slick roads and walkways if you’re headed out for early Sunday services. Ice accumulation here in the Valley should be around 0.01″ or so.
Also, expect some patchy fog along with the freezing drizzle Sunday morning. All of this should switch back to rain showers after 9:00 AM Sunday as temperatures warm again to above freezing.
Skies will remain cloudy on Sunday with occasional light rain/drizzle at times. Highs Sunday afternoon will top out at around 40 in most neighborhoods.
Once again as temperatures cool to freezing Sunday evening, patch freezing drizzle or light rain will be possible along with sleet. Any frozen precipitation should all change over to snow after 9:00 PM.
All this mess should end by early Monday morning as the system pushes east and out of the region. High pressure will build Monday to bring a period of dry and mostly sunny weather through Tuesday.
