Summertime heat and humidity returns over the weekend

Friday will bring one more pleasant day in east-central Ohio. High pressure is centered almost directly overhead this morning shifting eastward as we go through the day. We’ll remain dry and sunny with low humidity again today with temperatures warming to the low 80s this afternoon.

High clouds associated with an advancing warm front will increase during the second half of the day. But, it will still be dry and very comfortable for evening high school football games. Expect dry conditions, comfortable dew points, and temperatures in the low 70s around kickoff.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY
The warm front to our west continues marching east overnight crossing the Tuscarawas Valley area Saturday morning. There is little moisture associated with this feature and any showers will have a difficult time overcoming the dry airmass overhead. Still, a spotty shower or even a rumble of thunder will be possible with the front.

The best odds for any rain will hold off until Saturday afternoon, but even then, there is just a low chance for a shower in any one area. Most of us should stay dry but it will be a cloudier day with the front around. The odds of a strong storm or two will be possible in the northwestern portion of the state.

By Sunday we’ll find the area in a remarkably different airmass then we’ve been in the last few days. Both air temperatures and humidity will soar upward and with this warm soupy airmass, it will feel more like summer again.

With afternoon temperatures in the 85/87 degree range and dew points around 70, expect heat index values in the low to mid 90s. A spotty shower or storm will also be possible just about anywhere during the day in the afternoon heat.

MONDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY
Chances are hot and humid conditions will stick around through at least mid week next week. Odds for a spotty shower or thunderstorm will peak in the afternoon each day as temperatures heat up in the afternoon. The hottest day of the week will likely be Tuesday when temperatures around 90 degrees are possible.

A weak cold front will cross the region Wednesday/Thursday and knock temperatures back a few degrees but otherwise, a warm pattern looks to persist through the end of the month.
