If you need a place to shelter from the bitter cold over the next few days, there are a number of locations throughout Tuscarawas County that will provide temporary shelter.
IMPORTANT: Note that most warming centers do NOT have overnight hours. If someone has nowhere to go to stay warm overnight, we are urging them to contact the Central Dispatch Center using the non-emergency number of (330) 339-2000. Dispatchers will direct you to facilities that are able to offer overnight refuge. If we have an incident that results in many people losing power or heat, we are prepared to work with the Red Cross to open a shelter.
If you or your organization can offer temporary shelter from the cold for those in need, please contact Alex McCarthy at the Tuscarawas County Emergency Management office at 330.308.6670.
