SPC Upgrades Portions of East-Central Ohio to ‘Slight Risk’ (2/5) for Severe Thunderstorms

The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded our area from a Marginal Risk (1/5)to Slight Risk (2/5) in their Wednesday afternoon update.

This basically means that there is a better potential for strong to severe thunderstorms in our area – mainly late this afternoon and this evening. The main threats will come from damaging wind gusts and hail. The threat for an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out:

  • Damaging Wind: 15%
  • Large Hail: 15%
  • Tornadoes: 2%

A Severe Thunderstorm WATCH is expected for portions of eastern Ohio this afternoon.
