A storm survey team from the Nation Weather Service office in Pittsburgh has confirmed an EF1 tornado touched down northwest of Frazeysburg in Muskingum County during the severe thunderstorms that occurred last evening.
The survey team concluded that the tornado touched down at around 6:30 PM the evening of June 5th. Maximum winds from the tornado were set at 105 mph.
National Weather Service officials from Cleveland also confirmed a tornado in their coverage area from last evening. This one occurred in Galion Ohio (Crawford County). NWS officials rated the Galion tornado as EF0 with maximum winds of 75 mph.
Minor damage to a few buildings and some downed trees were reported with both twisters. No injuries were reported.
The Frazeysburg tornado is the second tornado this year that has occurred ‘close to home’. A tornado was confirmed in Carrollton on May 27 when severe thunderstorms ravaged Ohio over the long Memorial Day weekend.
