Showers and thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon and evening across our area. While widespread severe weather is not likely, there is a small chance that a few storms could produce strong gusty winds locally.
The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has a good chunk of east-central Ohio – including Tuscarawas County in the Marginal Risk (1/5) category.
Today’s thunderstorms may also put down some heavy rainfall as well. We’ve been dry lately, so issues with major flooding are not much of a concern. However, should thunderstorms train and repeat over a single area, there could be some issues with flash flood and street flooding.
The highest risk for thunderstorm activity here in the Valley will be mainly after lunchtime into Wednesday evening. The threat for storms will weaken after sunset. However, showers could linger locally well into the night.
With the warm and humid air in place, showers and thunderstorms will remain a possibility on Thursday as well.
