If you think it’s too hot this week you’re really not going to like it next week. While we will see temperatures cool close to average over the weekend, widespread heat will build in the Plains early next week then shift east into the Ohio Valley by mid week. We quite possibly see temperatures in the upper-90s late next week.
While there are some subtle differences, the suite of models most forecasters use in developing their weather forecasts are in agreement that another heat wave will visit next week – and, this one will be even hotter by a few degrees. Some of the models indicate heat index values in the 100° – 105° range in some areas for several days.
We will get a break this weekend ahead of this next round of hot weather. A weak cold front will approach and travel south through eastern Ohio Friday through Saturday. Showers and storms will be likely with the front but temperatures will cool off to around average Saturday through Tuesday of next week. By next Wednesday, however, temperatures will climb back to the 90s.
We may be looking at the hottest temperatures of the summer so far late next week into next weekend.
