Thursday local rain totals

It wasn’t much, but we did manage to receive some much-needed rain in the Valley on Thursday. Officially, we ended up with 0.30″ over the last 24 hours at the New Philadelphia airport. We measured 0.43″ in our weather station located south of New Phila. That’s not nearly as much as we need but at this point, we’ll take anything we can get.

NWS RADAR ESTIMATES total 24-hour rainfall

Total rainfall for the month so far at New Phila is a measly 1.24″. That leaves us with a deficit of 1.62″ for the month. Should this trend continue, this July will come in as one of the driest Julys on record locally.

The latest Drought Monitor designates our area as Abnormally Dry. Many areas in western and northwestern Ohio are officially under Moderate Drought.

We will remain dry through the weekend. Our next chance for a decent rain will come Monday night through Tuesday morning with the passage of a cold front.
