We’ll have one more day of humid weather to deal with today. The front that brought scattered showers to the area yesterday is currently hung up in southern Ohio. It will remain there for most of the day.
Showers and a few thunderstorms will visit during the morning and early afternoon thanks to that front to our south. Our potential for thunder and any severe storms will be limited due to the amount of cloud cover and rain. Otherwise, today looks like just another cloudy, damp, and muggy day. Temperatures won’t heat up much more than the upper-70s.
Notice, though, that cold front draped across Wisconsin extending down into Iowa. That’s headed our way and will likely cross east-central Ohio late tonight or early Thursday morning. As the cold front creeps closer it will push the nearly stationary front to our south further south. Shower chances will diminish late this afternoon and into the evening. It will also allow the clouds to begin clearing late today and overnight.
Cooler and much drier air will replace the warm and humid conditions we’ve been dealing with over the last several days. It will be replaced by a much different (and more pleasant) air mass locally for Friday and Labor Day weekend.
Dew points will plummet downward behind the front sweeping the humidity off to our south. High pressure will supply mostly sunny skies and set us up for a very nice holiday weekend.
We can expect to see a dry, cooler, and much less humid weekend here in the Valley.
Dry weather will continue in the Valley through Tuesday. The next opportunity for rain will arrive on Wednesday with another cold front. Next week’s front will bring much colder air to the central US. We’ll be on the eastern outskirts of this colder air.
