Saturday should stay dry and mild for most of the daylight hours. It will be another abnormally warm day in the Valley. Afternoon temperatures will warm to around 80° again as a warm front lifts through east-central Ohio. We will see clouds thicken during the afternoon with that front.
Chances for showers and thunderstorms will increase through the afternoon here in the Valley behind the warm front. There can be a few storms that get a little rowdy Saturday evening but, severe storms aren’t likely. A thunderstorm could produce some gusty wind and maybe small hail but we’re not looking at anything severe. The odds for storms will decrease after sunset with the loss of daytime heating.
I’ll keep a watchful eye on storm development over the next 24-hours but for now, I’m not concerned about severe storms in our area.
Rain showers will hang around through Sunday morning. The warmest and driest part of the day will also be during the morning. Cloud cover will increase once again in the afternoon as a cold front swings through. We can expect scattered shower to return for the afternoon along with cooler temperatures.
We could use some more rain locally and this system might just be the ticket. Current guidance suggests between a quarter and a half-inch of rain could be headed our way through Sunday night. The bulk of the rain will come Saturday evening and night.
Temperatures will seem kind of chilly by Sunday evening. We’ll cool off to the upper-50s. Monday morning will bring temps down to the mid-upper-40s.
Monday looks to be a decent day with a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures will be noticeably cooler, though. Afternoon highs on Monday will only reach the mid-60s locally. It looks like Saturday might be the last time we see 80-degrees for a while. That cooler air will stick around through next weekend.
I apologize for being late with the weather update today. I was attending the OSU Symposium on Severe Weather today and just ran out of time.
Thanks for reading the Valley’s only locally-produced weather outlook. Have a great weekend and be safe out there.
