Scattered Showers and Storms Around Today; Some Could be Strong/Severe

Posted Wednesday AM, July 7, 2021

With a very warm and humid atmosphere in place across the region today, an upper-level disturbance will provide the trigger for scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Some storms could get rowdy later today and produce strong wind gusts, small hail, and heavy downpours.

Showers and storms will develop today in the southeast and travel northwest. The best window of opportunity for thunderstorms in the east-central Ohio region is between 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

Showers and storms will be scattered about. Not all areas will see rain or storms today but IF they do happen to travel into our area, some could get feisty. With such a humid air mass in place, any storms today will be able to put down a tropical downpour.

Chances for severe storms will decrease as we lose daytime heating later this evening.
