A cold front draped across the east-central Ohio region will serve as the focus for showers and thunderstorms on Monday. Some of the storms Monday afternoon into early Monday evening could be severe. All severe threats will be in play – damaging wind gusts, hail, and a low-end risk of isolated tornadoes.
The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center highlights our area as a Level 2—Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms on Monday. While a thunderstorm will be possible just about any time on Monday, conditions for severe storms developing in our area will peak from around 3:00 PM to around 7:00 PM.
The risk of tornadoes developing with Monday’s activity is low (2% – 4%), but not zero.
Any showers or storms on Monday will be capable of producing heavy downpours. Due to heavy rainfall we’ve seen over the past few days, this could lead to flash flooding in areas already saturated.
The risk of thunderstorms in our area will decrease as the front exits the region Monday night. Building high pressure over the region will return mainly dry weather and seasonal temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday.
