Rain Odds Increase Tonight With a Weak Front; Cooler Temperatures Likely Next Week

After a seasonal day on Monday, temperatures will climb into the upper 80s to near 90° today under high pressure. The humidity will become noticeable this afternoon as well. Today’s added moisture will push the heat index into the low-90s this afternoon.

Clouds will likely increase as we get later into the afternoon or this evening as a disturbance approaches the region from the west. You may notice some rain blobs on the radar later today, but most of that should evaporate before reaching the surface.

Chances for scattered showers will increase tonight and Wednesday as a warm front lifts north into east-central Ohio. All indications are that rain and storms from this will be widely scattered, so don’t expect any significant rain amounts in any one location. Some areas may not receive any rain from this, while other neighborhoods could experience a brief downpour.

Any shower/storm chances will taper off and end Wednesday night, with dry weather returning on Thursday with high pressure building over the Ohio Valley. The high will maintain dry weather on Friday. Daytime highs should run around average or slightly warmer.

WEEKEND INTO NEXT WEEK:
The first really impactful cold front of our late summer season will likely increase the odds of showers and thunderstorms over the weekend. Again, rain amounts look paltry at best this far out. However, we will need to monitor for any severe threats in the coming days – especially on Sunday as the front moves through.

The largest impact will come from the cooler and drier air that flows into the region behind Sunday’s front. Temperatures in the mid-70s are likely next Monday, with low-70s possible a week from today. Dew points could drop into the 50s, which would make for some very pleasant humidity-free days.

Temperatures will gradually warm back to the low-80s through next week as we head into the Labor Day weekend.
