After a cooler but still very pleasant Sunday, temperatures across the Tuscarawas Valley will warm back up on Monday and Tuesday. High pressure centered over the Southeast US will pump in warm air with a strong southerly flow.
Our high temperature record will be challenged on Tuesday (73° set in 1973) and Wednesday (76° set in 1973).
Chances of showers and a potential for thunderstorms will increase late in the day on Tuesday as the next impactful weather system, a cold front, approaches Eastern Ohio. While several details remain to be ironed out, our computer models indicate instability will increase by Wednesday afternoon. This raises the potential of another round of severe thunderstorms during the second half of the day on Wednesday.
The Storm Prediction Center has our area highlighted for the potential of strong to severe storms on Wednesday afternoon. There are some details that need to come into focus this far out, and we’ll continue to monitor the situation as things fall into place.
Temperatures will fall off dramatically behind the cold front on Wednesday night. Thursday will be much colder, and there is a good chance that snow is likely to return Thursday morning. Given the warmth of ground temperatures, only a minor accumulation is likely locally.
Temperatures will hover a couple/three degrees either side of our climate average on Friday before warming slightly over the weekend. Another shot of colder air will knock temperaturesback downward by mid-week.
