Daily shower and thunderstorm chances return today and remain in the forecast through at least Thursday. Storms over the next couple of days have the ingredients to support strong wind gusts and heavy downpours. An isolated tornado can’t be completely ruled out in some of the tallest storms this afternoon.
The exact timing of today’s storms remains somewhat uncertain, but conditions for severe weather will be most favorable for much of the afternoon. There can be a second round of strong to severe thunderstorms that move through after 8:00 PM this evening.
TUESDAY
Severe weather could also impact our area on Tuesday, with the highest potential along and south of I-70. Timing is even more questionable with tomorrow’s storms, but conditions will be most favorable in the afternoon and evening on Tuesday.
The main threat on Tuesday will be damaging wind gusts.
In addition to the severe thunderstorm threats today and Tuesday, any storms could produce periods of heavy rainfall. With all of the abundant rain we’ve already received recently, isolated flash flooding can’t be ruled out – especially in those areas that receive multiple rounds of rain.
THURSDAY – FRIDAY
Canadian high pressure is expected to build into the region on Thursday, bringing dry weather and less humid conditions to finish the week.
