Fair weather, moderately warm temperatures and comfortable dew points will dominate our weather pattern in the Tuscarawas Valley today and Friday. Other than a few wispy high clouds and contrails, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a cloud today across Ohio and western PA. Today’s late morning GOES image shows nothing but clear skies.
Temperatures this afternoon will top out around 80 degrees across the area and that very muggy air from yesterday will continue to be replaced by much drier air this afternoon. It will be a pleasant summer day with sunshine and blue skies.
Clear skies overnight will allow temperatures to cool down to the mid-50s. With the lower humidity and cool temperatures, it will be a nice night to open the windows and give the air conditioner a break.
Friday will be a few degrees warmer, but the low humidity and sunshine will continue. Friday evening will be nearly perfect for the opening night at Trumpet in the Land in New Phila. Folks who snagged the free tickets to attend tonight’s chicken BBQ and performance will have comfortable temperatures and mostly clear skies.
WARM, MUGGY CONDITIONS RETURN BY THE WEEKEND
High pressure responsible for the sunshine today and Friday, will shift east through the weekend setting up a southerly flow over east-central Ohio. With that moist southern air pumping in, we can expect dew points and temperatures to rise Saturday.
Our computer models hint of a weak upper-level disturbance that may cross the region Saturday afternoon. With a warm and increasingly humid airmass overhead, this may be just enough of a trigger for a few showers and/or a thunderstorm. I don’t think this would be much more than an isolated instance and I’ve kept only slight chances for a spotty shower or storm in the afternoon through early evening.
Otherwise, conditions will become noticeably muggy Saturday and temperatures should warm to the mid/upper 80s.
Things really heat up on Father’s Day and most neighborhoods will see afternoon temperatures climb to the 90-degree mark.
With a soupy airmass firmly in place, the humidity will spike and it will feel increasingly uncomfortable. You’re going to want to find a cool place to spend the day with dad. Heat index values will climb to the mid-90s.
Just as it was Saturday, I can’t rule out a passing disturbance that may spark a few showers or thunderstorms Sunday morning. If you happen to get any rain early in the day it will just make it all the more muggier in the afternoon.
It will be even hotter and muggier on Monday. Afternoon temperatures will soar into the low 90s with dew points in the 70s. It will truly feel like Miami only no ocean breezes.
A cold front will sink south Monday night – Tuesday timeframe and that will bring some drier air back to the region by mid-week. Temperatures should also back off to around average.
