Dry weather through Monday; Showers and thunderstorms return Tuesday

High pressure will bring dry conditions Sunday and Monday. A storm system will cross the region on Tuesday bringing showers and thunderstorms. High pressure will return sunshine and cooler, less humid conditions to end the work week.

Weak high pressure over the western Great Lakes region will shift east across northern Ohio today. We can expect a nice summer Sunday with plenty of sunshine and about average afternoon temperatures.

High pressure will travel towards New England on Monday keeping dry conditions and sunshine over the area. Monday will also be the warmest day of the week with afternoon temperatures in the 85 to 87 degree range. Somewhat drier air has moved in behind yesterday’s cold front so the humidity will be more comfortable today too.

Clouds will be hard to come by today but you may notice a slight haziness. Our sunshine today will be tempered slightly by smoke from the wildfires out west high up in the atmosphere. This evening’s sunset should be spectacular with lots of reds and oranges.

After two nice and mostly sunny days you know it had to change. A fairly strong low pressure system will approach from the west Monday and lift a warm front over Ohio late Monday night. Showers will likely start Tuesday morning and pretty much remain through the rest of the day. As we warm in the afternoon a few embedded thunderstorms will also likely develop.

Tuesday will the most humid day of the week. Temperatures won’t do much better than the low 80s with all the cloud cover and rain around. However, with dew points in the low 70s, we can expect very muggy conditions.

We’ll continue to monitor weather conditions on Tuesday for severe potential. Strong storms will be likely with gusty wind and hail. The severe potential looks a little better east of the Valley today but this will change as we get closer to Tuesday.

There will be plenty of moisture for any thunderstorms to tap into Tuesday, so heavy rainfall is also something we’re watching out for.

Details, as well as timing, will come into focus on Monday.

A cold front will move through the region early Wednesday and bring a big change to our airmass to end the work week. Temperatures will be noticeably cooler Wednesday and those high dew points will tumble as drier air moves into the region.

We’re looking at a cool and pleasant Wednesday with highs in the mid-70s. Temperatures will slowly creep back up to around average by Saturday

High pressure will return Wednesday and stick around through the rest of the week. That will bring back dry conditions and sunshine to our area as we head toward the weekend.

Actually, we’re not expecting anything in the way of really hot temperatures as we move into the end of the month. It will be briefly cooler for the latter part of this week. Then, temperatures look to climb back to around average or a tad above average to finish out the month.
