Dry and warmer conditions are expected today with building high pressure. An encroaching front will bring rain Wednesday and Thursday. Moderate to heavy rainfall will be possible.
High pressure will bring sunny conditions to the Tuscarawas Valley today. As the high shifts east this morning it will lift a warm front through east-central Ohio and temperatures this afternoon will warm to the low 60s in most spots.
Today will likely be the last dry day of the week. If you have outside yard work to get in before the weekend, today will be the day to get those tasks finished.
Temperatures tonight will actually be warmer as Monday’s high temperature. Lows should drop to around 50 degrees.
WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY
A cold front will push through the region on Wednesday stalling out just to our south by Wednesday night. Showers will overspread east-central Ohio from the northwest by tomorrow afternoon. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected at times Wednesday night through Thursday and Thursday night.
Temperatures on Wednesday will be seasonably warm with mid-60s likely in the Valley for the afternoon high. Temperatures on Thursday will be about 10 to 12 degrees cooler behind the cold front.
TRICK-OR-TREAT
Count on a wet Halloween trick-or-treat. Temperatures will be mild.
This whole mess should begin to exit the region by Friday. Expect a few lingering showers around mainly in the morning with improving afternoon weather. Temperatures will top out in the mid-50s for Friday’s high.
This will be a significant rain event here in the east-central Ohio region. With the potential for 1.5″ to 2.5″ or more of rain through the period, rivers and streams will rise to near flood stage. Flooding in low-lying areas is also likely.
If you live/work in an area that floods, remain aware and keep up with the latest forecast from a reliable source. NWS Flood headlines are possible.
TIP: Heavy rain in the fall means that leaves and other debris are likely to cause issues with drainage around your home/business. Today would be a good day to clear gutters and downspouts BEFORE heavy rain causes flooding issues around your home.
WEEKEND OUTLOOK
Our weekend will bring much-improved weather as an upper-level ridge builds over the eastern US. Saturday will be the cloudier day of the weekend, but we should remain dry with afternoon highs near 50. Sunday will be the sunnier day of the weekend and a little warmer with highs in the mid-50s.
A series of disturbances will approach and move through on Monday raising the prospects for showers to return.
