Quiet but colder weekend followed by rain for New Year’s Eve

Saturday will be just another standard-issue gloomy winter day in the Valley. Although we should remain dry, clouds will dominate our skies today. Temperatures this afternoon will also remain pretty much about where we expect them to be for late December. Dry weather will continue tonight with temperatures bottoming out in the upper 20s.

Thankfully, Sunday will be a nicer day. There will be some fair weather clouds around but we’ll actually get into some fairly decent sunshine. Temperatures tomorrow will peak in the upper 30s.

The sunshine on Sunday will give way to a wet New Year’s Eve. A storm system will track out of the Mississippi Valley into the Ohio Valley on Monday spreading widespread rain showers across east-central Ohio. While temperatures will warm to the low 50s here in the Valley, heavy rainfall will be possible at times with this system. This system has the potential to bring substantial rain to the Valley Monday through Tuesday morning.

We’ll dry out on the first day of 2019 along with some occasional sunshine. Wednesday will colder temperatures with afternoon highs struggling to get much above freezing.
