Mild temperatures today but colder air is on the way tonight

Temperatures across the Valley are already in the low 50s this morning and they will continue to rise to the low 60s as additional southerly air moves in this afternoon. While it will remain breezy today, winds will not be as gusty as they were overnight. Skies will remain cloudy and a light rain shower will be possible mainly through early afternoon. Shower chances will gradually taper off through the evening.

A cold front will cross the region this evening. Due to a lack of moisture, there should not be anything more than a slight chance for an isolated shower. Winds will remain breezy until the front pushes south of the area later tonight. Warm southern air will be pushed south as colder air rushes in behind the front. Temperatures tonight will cool off to around freezing.

Surface temperatures at 10:00 PM tonight as depicted by the NAM highlight the colder air that will sink south through the region. Tomorrow’s temperatures will be much colder with afternoon highs in the mid-30s.

Saturday and Sunday will stay dry but temperatures are going to be more in tune with the calendar. Saturday’s afternoon high will only reach the mid-30s. Odds for snow showers will be confined to areas along Lake Erie. Sunday will be the pick day of the weekend with more sunshine and temperatures warming to the low 40s.

The next system to cross the region will spread rain showers over the Valley on New Year’s Eve. Temperatures once again will become quite mild but not quite as warm as today. Colder, drier air will return for New Year’s Day.

Mild temperatures at the beginning of the week will return to below average temperatures by mid week.
