The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued a Tornado Watch in effect until 9:00 PM this evening.
A Tornado Watch means that weather conditions are favorable for tornadoes for form. Isolated tornadoes will be possible anywhere within the Watch area. Severe thunderstorms are also likely and may contain damaging wind gusts of 58 MPH or higher. Both small AND large hail 1″ or greater is also possible.
TIMING
The best opportunity for severe storms in our area will be between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Be especially aware of changing weather conditions during this time frame.
If a Tornado Warning is issued, be prepared to seek shelter in an interior room or basement. Have multiple ways to receive warnings. DO NOT RELY ON OUTDOOR SIRENS as your warning method.
