The National Weather Service has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch no. 562 until 8:00 PM this evening.
The Watch area includes Tuscarawas, Guernsey, Coshocton, Carroll, Muskingum, Noble, and Harrison counties in east-central Ohio.
Thunderstorms are expected to develop later today as a strong cold front approaches and crosses our area. Large hail (up to quarter-size) and wind gusts of 50 mph or greater will be possible in some storms.
While any storm that happens to cross our area today will be capable of producing strong wind, there is also a decent setup for hail. The tornado threat is low, but not zero.
Odds for showers and storms will diminish after 7:00 with the passing of the front. Skies will gradually clear out overnight as high pressure moves in to bring sunshine, cooler temperatures and less humid air to the Valley for the weekend.
