A survey team from the Cleveland office of the National Weather Service said today that an EF-1 tornado touched down in Norwalk Ohio (Huron Co.) Tuesday evening.
A report from the NWS survey indicated that the tornado developed about 1.5 miles south of Norwalk then traveled northeast finally lifting near Veterans Memorial Lake Park. Damage was limited to several large trees along the tornado’s path. Maximum wind speed was estimated to be 100 mph. There were no reported injuries or fatalities.
Tuesday evening tornado brings the total number of confirmed tornadoes in Ohio this year to 59. Historically, Ohio averages about 19 tornadoes per year.
