Dry Halloween but rain chances return on Sunday

Posted 8:57 AM EDT Friday, October 30, 2020

Temperatures will be cooler today behind a cold front that moved through east-central Ohio early this morning. The best odds for any light rain or drizzle will be mainly in the morning hours and conditions should gradually improve through the afternoon and evening.

As the clouds break and skies become less cloudy tonight, temperatures will cool below freezing by early Saturday morning. Most places will dip to the upper-20s but some of our cooler spots can get down to the mid-20s.

After a week of gloomy skies and rain, the sun finally returns on Saturday. Temperatures locally will rebound to around 50° for the afternoon high as a southerly breeze sets up.

Precipitation chances return to the Valley on Sunday as another cold front moves across Ohio. We will see our highest temperatures during the morning and early afternoon before the front crosses. Wind out of the west will turn gusty behind the front during the second half of the day.

SUNDAY: A cold front will bring a return of rain chances. Gusty wind is expected in the afternoon and evening behind the front. Snow showers are likely in the snow belt counties of eastern Ohio.

Areas in northern Ohio and along the snow belt will probably see some snow Sunday evening and Sunday night with this one. Warm ground temperatures will limit any accumulation.

NEXT WEEK – INDIAN SUMMER?
Another cold night with lows in the upper-20s is likely Sunday night into Monday. Temperatures to start the new work week will struggle to reach the mid-40s for the afternoon high in the Valley.

The rest of the week will bring a warming trend and mainly dry weather to the Valley. Indian Summer is generally considered as a period of unusually warm and dry conditions that follow the first freeze of the season.

Each day next week will bring slightly warmer days as temperatures climb to the low-6-s by mid-week and next weekend looks to bring mild temperatures in the mid-60s. High pressure will dominate our weather pattern which generally leads to dry weather and mostly sunny skies.

Have a great weekend and be safe out there.
