Heat Index Around 100° today; Another Round of Strong Storms Possible

Posted Thursday AM, August 12, 2021

Today will bring even hotter temperatures and more humid air to the region. That combination of high humidity and air temperatures in the low-90s will push heat index values to around 100° this afternoon in the Valley.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for all of East-Central Ohio today.

HEAT INDEX VALUES this afternoon will likely reach 100° in the Valley.

As it’s been the last several days, showers and thunderstorms will likely develop in the region this afternoon. ANY storm today will be capable of producing high winds, frequent lightning, hail, and tropical downpours. It will be difficult to pinpoint where storms will develop and when so pay attention to the weather in your area especially in the afternoon and early evening. Thunderstorms can develop and strengthen quickly in this kind of hot, humid, and unstable air mass.

Friday will bring another warm and humid day. Showers and storms are likely again tomorrow with a cold front moving through. Dryer air will follow Friday’s front that will bring much less humid air into the Valley for the weekend.
