Warm temperatures, elevated humidity, and sunshine today will provide the fuel for thunderstorms through this evening. Some storms today could be severe and produce wind gusts high enough to cause damage. Frequent intense lightning, hail, and tropical downpours can also occur in any thunderstorms today.
The NWS Storm Prediction Center has all of East-Central Ohio highlighted for a Slight Risk (Level 2 on a scale of 1-5) of severe thunderstorms.
Otherwise, today will bring another day of very warm and humid weather to the Valley. Temperatures this afternoon will reach the upper-80s to near 90°. With dew points in the low to mid-70s, heat index values will easily reach the mid to upper-90s.
Keep an eye on the weather today if you’re outdoors and be prepared to seek shelter if thunderstorms develop and approach. The threat of severe weather will lessen this evening with the loss of daytime heating.
