A Little Snow Tonight for Some then a Very Cold Day for Everyone on Friday

Published 9:00 AM EST 02/02/2023

Today will be a chilly but nice day across the Tuscarawas Valley but some of us will see a touch of snow tonight as a powerful slug of arctic air moves into east-central Ohio for Friday.

The bulk of snow coming in with this very cold air tonight will fall well to our north. We’re not talking about a lot of snow in our area out of this. Neighborhoods north of New Philadelphia could see anywhere from a dusting to maybe an inch of new snow overnight.

The farther north you are, the better your odds of getting some snow tonight through Friday morning.

I can’t completely rule out some light snow or flurries through the morning mainly in the northern half of Tuscarawas and Carroll counties tomorrow. This could result in some light accumulation in some spots through the morning hours tomorrow.

While snow won’t be much of an issue with this system, the very cold arctic air that flows in behind this cold front will impact everyone in the Valley tomorrow. Temperatures on Friday won’t do much better than the mid to upper-teens for the afternoon high. The coldest temperatures will be in the morning. In addition, there will be a northerly breeze around the 10 MPH range which will make wind chills around zero to start the day. Wind chills will remain in the single digits through the daytime hours.

The really cold temperatures will be short-lived, though. After a cold start Saturday morning we’ll begin to see temperatures improve through the weekend.

It’s Groundhog Day! In case you were wondering, spring arrives on March 20 – 46 days from today.
