While these first couple of days in May have brought picture-perfect weather to the Valley, our weather will become more unsettled as we head into the weekend.
Chances for rain will increase on Friday as a cold front approaches from the east. This will, unfortunately, slow considerably and eventually hang up over central Ohio on Saturday. As long as this boundary is around, showers and the occasional thunderstorm will be possible across the east-central Ohio region.
While we should remain dry as Friday begins, chances for showers and storms will gradually increase during the afternoon before becoming likely by late afternoon or early evening. Thunderstorms will be possible but at this time severe storms are not expected.
As things stand now, Friday night and Saturday look like the more likely days for rain and storms. Sunday my bring slightly less chances for rain but a shower or thunderstorm will still be a possibility at just about any time during the day. Chances for precipitation will decrease as we go through the second half of the day Sunday.
Rainfall could be heavy at times Friday night and particularly on Saturday. Current projections indicate that an inch to 1.5 inches of rain will be possible – most of that falling during the daytime hours on Saturday. Rainfall amounts are forecast to be lower on Sunday.
Abundant cloud cover will keep daytime temperatures in check. Some breaks in the cloud cover are possible on Sunday when temperatures could reach the upper-70s.
Do you know when the rain would hit our area Friday?
