A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been posted for western and central Ohio counties. This is in advance of a line of strong/severe thunderstorms moving into the state from the west. This line is expected to continue traveling northeast through the rest of the afternoon. It is possible that the Watch area may be extended eastward by early this evening.
I know lots of folks in the area are outdoors enjoying the warm holiday weekend but please keep an eye on the radar this evening and tonight. Storms this evening and tonight could be severe. Damaging wind is the primary concern but there is also a low-end risk of hail and isolated tornadoes. With all of the tornadoes we’ve experienced in Ohio already this year, even a small chance is something to be concerned about.
Since severe weather is possible after sunset and later tonight have a reliable way to receive any warning that may be issued in our area.
