Light rain/drizzle tonight will change to wet snow early Wednesday morning. Snow showers and decreasing temperatures are then likely through much of the day Wednesday.
Snow accumulation will be rather light in our area. On average, most communities will receive an inch or less of snow. However, a few periods of heavier snowfall combined with gusty wind brings the possibility of snow squalls leading to visibility issues for travelers. This is especially true Wednesday night and pre-dawn Thursday.
The largest impacts in our area will be the bitterly cold temperatures and gusty wind. West winds will begin to pick up Wednesday afternoon and remain gusty Wednesday night and Thursday. Gusts can reach 30 mph to 35 mph at times. In addition, the warmest part of the day on Wednesday will be during the morning, with temperatures decreasing throughout the day.
The combination of wind and cold air will create wind chill values in the single digits as you head out the door Thursday morning.
Gusty winds and bitterly cold wind chill values are likely throughout much of Thursday. Winds will subside Thursday night, but temperatures will remain in the mid-teens.
This will be a quick-hitting system. Area temperatures will rebound back to the mid-30s for daytime highs on Friday and into the mid-40s by Saturday.
