A Weekend System Will Bring Gusty Wind and Maybe Severe Storms

Fair weather and warm temperatures will dominate the rest of the work week. An unusually strong low pressure system will likely return prospects for showers and thunderstorms to the region on Saturday and Sunday.

There is a potential that some of the storms Saturday afternoon and evening could be strong to severe. Damaging wind gusts is the main threat.

Storm Prediction Center Day 4 Outlook

Regardless of whether the storms can be severe or not, locally heavy rainfall and strong gusty winds will be possible at times on Saturday. Southerly winds will begin to pick up Friday evening and remain gusty through Sunday.

The threat for thunderstorms will taper off and end Saturday night. Showers are likely to remain through much of Sunday. Dry weather and temperatures closer to normal will follow Sunday night into Monday.
