A fast-moving clipper system will spread snow showers into the Tuscarawas Valley this evening and tonight. Precipitation is likely to start out as rain or a rain-snow mix briefly, but eventually, it will become all snow.
LOCAL TIMING
The latest updated data support rain showers moving into the area around or after 5:00 PM with a changeover to snow showers around 7:00 PM. Wet snow showers, possibly mixed with drizzle at times, will continue through about 3:00 AM Saturday.
LOCAL SNOW AMOUNTS
The warm ground should allow this to melt fairly quickly on area roads. The exception will depend on snowfall rates. The high-resolution models depict spotty areas of moderate to heavy snowfall rates at times, and these areas could see a quick accumulation of snow. Generally, however, snow accumulation in our local area can run from a dusting to up to an inch in areas where heavier snowfall occurs.
Snow chances will gradually decrease from north to south from 6:00 to 8:00 AM Saturday. Quiet weather and decreasing clouds are then expected Saturday afternoon through Saturday night. Given the warmer surface temperatures and the higher early March sun angle, any accumulation in our local area won’t last long.
Temperatures will remain chilly on Saturday but warm to 50-ish under mostly sunny skies on Sunday.
