Overall, the forecast hasn’t changed much over the last several model runs. Today (Saturday) will be the best day of the weekend to run errands and do any outdoor activities/tasks. Mainly sunny skies during the morning hours will give way to increasing cloud coverage in the afternoon as a large storm system approaches the upper Great Lakes region.
Precipitation, initially snow, will gradually spread west to east this evening and tonight before transitioning to rain Sunday morning and afternoon. In our local area, impacts from snow should be minor at best as any snow that does accumulate will melt Sunday morning with the rain and warming temperatures.
Locally, we can expect a dusting to perhaps an inch of snow, mainly on grassy areas and elevated surfaces. Sunday’s rain showers should end after a cold front slides through the region during the afternoon. Temperatures will also fall from around 40° to about freezing by sunset Sunday.
Dry weather and colder temperatures are expected to return on Sunday night and Monday under weak high pressure.
The next system will bring another round of snow showers to the Tuscarawas Valley area Monday night and Tuesday. While there remains uncertainty in the amount of snow we may end up getting from this, it is becoming more certain that temperatures will remain cold enough for this to be all snow. (Areas along and south of I-70 have better odds of seeing a snow/rain mix on Tuesday.)
Dry weather should return Tuesday night and Wednesday. Yet another frontal system will bring (minor) snow chances Thursday/Friday. Temperatures will remain below average.
