High pressure will continue to provide mostly sunny conditions on Friday. Clouds will gradually thicken as evening approaches, but conditions will remain dry across the Tuscarawas Valley. If you plan on attending the Christmas Parade in New Phila on Friday evening, it will be cold with temperatures dropping into the mid-20s. Mainly calm winds will keep wind chill values close to the actual air temperature. We don’t expect any snow.

WEEKEND OUTLOOK
A trough of low pressure over the Great Lakes region will bring a cloudy weekend, but the flow ahead of the system’s cold front will turn southerly and pump in slightly warmer temperatures into the area. Temperatures across the Valley should warm to the mid-30s on Saturday. Snow showers associated with the front should remain north of our area.

Sunday will bring the potential for a round of light snow and/or a wintry mix in our local area as a clipper system races across the upper Ohio Valley. Current guidance suggests it begins Sunday morning as snow before transitioning to rain late morning or early afternoon. Overall, snow accumulation should be light.

The system’s cold front will bring an end to precipitation as winds swing around more to the northwest. Colder air flowing in the NW flow will push temperatures down to the mid-teens Sunday night.
EARLY NEXT WEEK TO MIDWEEK
High pressure will return dry conditions on Monday. However, temperatures will remain colder in the NW flow behind Sunday’s front. Highs on Monday won’t do better than the upper 20s°.

The next opportunity for impactful snowfall arrives during the Tuesday/Wednesday timeframe with yet another clipper-like system moving through the Great Lakes region. As one would suspect, model spread regarding the timing and path of this one is all over the place at this time. Some depict a glancing blow with a northerly track, while others take a more southerly path, resulting in a much heavier precipitation outcome. As such, we’ll need to monitor this one closely.
Timing and track aside, this will be another fast-moving system, so any snow amounts should be held in check.

The models are showing yet another clipper-like system for late next week, so it seems there will be no shortage of snow opportunities over the next week to ten days. We’ll continue to keep a watchful eye on nex week’s mid-week clipper and update you either Sunday or Monday, depending on how things evolve. Until then, have a great weekend!
