A clipper-type low pressure system tracks across the upper Great Lakes today, bringing a potential for light snow accumulation today and Saturday. Snow amounts locally during the daytime hours are likely to be fairly light due to drier air near the surface.

Better odds of heavier snowfall will enter the picture later this evening, tonight, and Saturday, with an increasing chance of snow banding. Bands of heavier snowfall rates could produce a burst of snow tonight through Saturday morning, resulting in a quick localized additional inch of snow.

In addition to the snow, an arctic air mass will overspread the region behind a strong cold front on Sunday. The coldest period is likely to occur on Monday and Tuesday. Below-zero wind chill values in our area are likely Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning. Some locations could see wind chills -10° or colder.

Have a great weekend, and please be safe out there. – Joe
