As of 3:00 PM on Wednesday, the Tornado Watch has been cancelled for all eastern Ohio counties north of I-70. Shower and thunderstorm chances will remain possible across the Tuscarawas Valley through this evening as a cold front moves south. However, the strongest storms are expected to remain along and south of I-70.
The cold front is currently located in the far northwest corner as of 3:30 PM. It will continue drifting southeast through this evening. Additional showers and thunderstorms are possible near the front, but any storms are expected to remain below severe criteria.
A much colder and drier air mass will flow into the region behind the front. The influx of colder air will provide the opportunity for slight snow showers/flurries tonight. Given the meager moisture amounts and warm ground temperature, accumulation should be limited to grassy areas.
Northwest winds will remain elevated overnight with sustained winds in the 10- 15 mph range and occasional gusts to around 30 mph. Friday looks like it will be the windiest day. Wind gusts on Friday have the potential to reach advisory criteria of 40+ mph with the crossing of a reinforcing cold front.
