A large upper-level high pressure area over the northeast will keep a mainly dry and hot weather pattern over the east-central Ohio region through Monday and Tuesday. Locally, we can expect daytime highs in the 90-degree range both days, with the humidity becoming a factor on Tuesday and Wednesday. The heat index may approach the 100-degree level in some neighborhoods during the peak heating period on Tuesday.
An isolated shower or thunderstorm will be possible late in the day on Tuesday as a weak frontal boundary approaches. The better odds of seeing rain and a storm will be on the Tuesday night through Wednesday period as the boundary slowly crosses through the area. It won’t be a complete washout, but a shower or t-storm will be possible in any one spot during the afternoon and evening.
Although our area is not currently experiencing a drought, it is becoming slightly dry. Our lawns and gardens (and farms) could use a good drink. Current modeling suggests we may get anywhere from a couple of tenths to a half inch of rain out of this. There is some uncertainty in the timing and location of the front, so we’ll have to revisit this on Monday and Tuesday.
There will be some instability ahead of this system, but it won’t be off the charts. And, there is not much in the way of a forcing mechanism. As it stands today, severe storms are not likely.
Once the boundary slides out of the area Wednesday night, showers and storms will come to an end. Expect mainly fair and quiet weather with increasing temperature levels as we head into next weekend.
