High pressure will continue to bring fair weather and slightly cooler-than-average temperatures to the Tuscarawas Valley today and Saturday. We will, however, begin to notice an uptick in humidity this afternoon. It won’t be extreme, but it will feel a touch muggier today than it’s been in recent days.
Temperatures will warm to average values on Saturday, although clouds will increase Saturday afternoon as a weak disturbance moves into western PA. Any showers associated with this feature should remain off to our east.
After a mostly sunny start to Sunday, clouds will gradually increase during the late morning as a low pressure system moves into the Great Lakes region. Sunday will feel noticeably more humid as moisture from this system increases. The low will also bring a low-end chance of a shower or storm to our area Sunday afternoon.
Any strong or severe weather activity should keep off to our west on Sunday, but the Sunday time period is just now beginning to enter the range of our high-resolution models. At this point, I wouldn’t change any outdoor plans on Sunday but have the TUSCWeather app handy so you can check the radar just in case. We’ll have a better idea of Sunday’s storm potential by Saturday morning.
STORM CHANCES INCREASE EARLY IN THE WORK WEEK
That low traveling through the Great Lakes will bring more active weather to eastern Ohio on Monday and Tuesday. It also opens the door to the potential for strong thunderstorms in the east-central Ohio region to start the work week.
While specific details are sketchy this far out, a number of our computer models do indicate a favorable environment for strong thunderstorms with this system, especially on Monday. We will, of course, bring more details as the system comes into focus over the weekend. For now, we just want to keep folks aware of what may play out after the weekend.
The potential for showers and storms across our area will decrease during the latter part of the day on Tuesday after the system’s trailing cold front exits the region.
